Business FAQ
Quick answers to the questions we hear most from businesses. For the mailbox itself — mail apps, the Screener, sending limits, tags — see the SingleSign Mail FAQ.
Can my company use SingleSign Mail?
Yes — that's SingleSign Business. Set up an organization: it gets a free address of its own — acme.singlesign.com — and everyone gets a company mailbox — name@acme.singlesign.com — that the organization owns, alongside their personal @singlesign.com mailbox. Admins run members, invites, addresses and domains from one console. Start with Getting started as a business.
Do we need our own domain?
No. Every organization gets a free subdomain — yourname.singlesign.com, chosen when you create it — and its members get real mailboxes on it straight away, with Mail, Chat, Calendar, Docs and Meetings all working. There's nothing to verify and no DNS to touch. You can add your own domain whenever you like. See Domains and DNS records.
Can we use our own domain (you@yourcompany.com)?
Yes — whenever you like. Add it in Admin → Domains: a single TXT record proves you own the domain (we verify it automatically and email you), then the four mail records — MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC — with checks that tell you exactly what's missing, and a signed test message that proves mail flows. Once it's verified, admins can give people name@yourcompany.com as an extra address and make it their default From; the free .singlesign.com address keeps working beside it. Every value and every registrar is in Domains and DNS records.
How many domains can we add?
As many as you need — there's no limit. Each domain needs its own records and gets its own DKIM key, and a member's address can be on the free subdomain or any verified domain.
How long does DNS take?
Most providers publish within minutes; DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to spread. You don't wait on us: we check every few minutes, verify and set the domain up the moment the record is visible, and email you. After three days we keep checking hourly — we never give up on a domain. The console tells you when a record is published at your host but not yet visible to the internet, so you know it's just waiting.
What does it cost?
Personal is free. Business: the first account is free and each additional user is $5 per user per month, or $4 per user per month when the year is prepaid; Enterprise starts at $3.50 per user per month for 500+ users on a 3-year agreement. Every plan includes 5 GB per user. Billing opens with the Business plan launch — every organization is on the free tier until then (up to 25 members, no domain limit). Full table in Plans and pricing.
Who owns a company mailbox?
The organization. Admins create it, watch its storage, and can suspend, transfer, forward or delete it. The person owns their personal @singlesign.com mailbox outright — no organization can touch that one. See Company mailboxes.
Can admins read our mail?
No. No role in SingleSign Business grants message content — not to the Owner, not to any admin role. Admins see a mailbox's address, storage use, status and sign-in security counts, and every admin action is in the audit log. See Admin roles and permissions.
Do colleagues go through the Screener?
Not by default. Mail between members of the organization skips the Screener (the "Trust teammate mail" setting, on by default and visible to every member); customers, suppliers and strangers still wait for approval. See The Screener for businesses.
What happens to someone's company mailbox when they leave?
Their access ends immediately — web, phone and app passwords — and the organization keeps the mailbox with everything in it: transfer it to whoever takes over, forward its mail, or delete it (20 days to restore, then it's purged and the address is free). Their personal mailbox and any other organizations they belong to aren't affected. See Company mailboxes.
Can a company mailbox have several addresses?
Yes. A company mailbox has a primary address and can carry aliases — up to 30 addresses in total, on your free subdomain or any of your verified domains. Mail to any of them lands in the same mailbox, and each can be picked as the From address.
Can we have support@, sales@ or info@?
Yes — set up a forwarder. A forwarder is an address with no mailbox behind it that delivers to one or more destinations: company mailboxes, members' personal mailboxes, or outside addresses (those confirm by e-mail before receiving anything). Strangers writing to support@ are expected, so a forwarder skips the Screener's first-contact hold by default. The free tier includes 3 forwarders with one outside destination each; SingleSign Business has no limit, allows 10 outside destinations per forwarder and adds the catch-all. See Forwarders and parked domains. (A role address can also be an alias on someone's company mailbox, if one person should answer as it.)
We own a second domain — can it reach the same mailboxes?
Yes — park it. Verify the extra domain, then "Park onto…" your main one from its card in Domains: every address of the primary also receives as the parked domain, mail still goes out from the primary, and the parked domain still needs its MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. No limit on parked domains. See Forwarders and parked domains.
Can one person be in several organizations, or run several?
Yes. One SingleSign identity can hold a company mailbox in every organization it belongs to, and start as many organizations as it likes — each with its own free address, its own domains if you add them, and its own mailbox for you. Switch between them in the account menu, or read them together under All inboxes. See Your Accounts & Organizations.
Do members need a personal @singlesign.com address?
No. A personal address is optional and separate. Someone invited to your organization signs in with whatever email they already use, and their company mailbox is the only mailbox they need — though they can claim a personal one too.
How do company mailboxes work on phones?
Each mailbox is added separately, with its own app password; the username is the company address itself, and iPhone gets a one-tap profile. See SingleSign Mail on Your Phone.
Can we import our old mail?
Not yet — this is planned. There's currently no way to import an existing mailbox or auto-forward another provider's mail into SingleSign Mail. We'll update this page when import launches.
Can we move off Slack?
Yes. Every organization gets Chat — channels, direct messages, threads and the rest — for everyone with a company mailbox. An Owner or Admin imports your Slack export, with people matched by email address, and your tools keep posting once their Slack webhook URLs are swapped for Chat ones. See Moving from Slack.
Can we delete the organization?
Yes — the Owner can, from the Danger zone, after other members' mailboxes have been deleted or transferred and any developer apps moved. Everything the organization held is purged immediately, with no restore; personal mailboxes are untouched. See Deleting an organization.
